New York Metropolitan Museum of Art

Image
New York Metropolitan Museum of Art The Metropolitan museum of Art, located in 5th avenue, is one of the worlds largest art museums in the world. It is the largest art museum in the Western Hemisphere.  On Friday August 12th, I went to the Met museum with my parents. I liked that the museum had a parking garage, and it was next to central park. If you are a New York State resident, the price you pay for tickets are up to you. Since our family lives on Long Island, we only paid 5 dollars. But tickets are usually $30 for adults and $17 for students. Kids under 12 enter for free. To find out more, you can visit their website  https://www.metmuseum.org/visit/plan-your-visit The museum has over 2 million artworks, so it is impossible to see them all in one day. We only visited 4 different galleries.  Map of Metropolitan Museum second floor (Created by Met) Circles are the place we visited ‘The Death of Socrates’ by Jacques Louis David located in the European paintin...

Museum of Ice Cream || New York City || Trip

Image
Museum of Ice cream, New York City The Museum of Ice cream is a company that provides a interactive experience for guests. As in June 2022, there are currently three Museum of Ice creams in the United States, located in Austin, Chicago, and New York. There is also one located in Dempsey, Singapore.  The Museum of Ice cream I went to with my mom is located in Soho, Manhattan. Despite the location, you must book a ticket at museumoficecream.com ahead of time. Tickets are $36 on weekdays and $44 on weekends. From 5:30 pm, tickets cost $49 everyday. Although we went on a Thursday morning, the total cost for my mom and I was around $100. Was the experience worth it? From a 13 year old girl’s point of view, yes, it definitely was. The interior of the museum was simple yet fancy. The walls and floors are painted with different shades of pink, and cute souvenirs fill the entrance. Every part of the museum is a perfect spot for taking pictures. When you start off the tour, a guide ex...

South Korea Quarantine rules during the Covid-19 pandemic: Self Quarantine experiences in South Korea

South Korea Quarantine rules during the Covid-19 pandemic: Self Quarantine experiences in South Korea  Did you happen to know that you should quarantine yourself for 14 days when you go to South Korea?  Well, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, even Korean nationals should quarantine for 14 days, regardless of vaccination status. This quarantine rule will be changed at July 1st.   I want to share the astonishing experience I had so far in South Korea. Many facts might amaze you too. 1. If you are foreign nationals who wants to visit to Korea and do not have any houses where you could stay, you will be quarantined at a designated government facility at your own cost. (The total cost will be about $1,500, KRW 1,680,000). Even though you are Korean nationals but do not have any suitable places like parents' houses or other relative houses, you should stay at a facility for 14 days and pay the cost, too.  2. Luckily, my parents have their house in South Korea, so, I didn'...

Cold Spring Harbor State Park ; Homeschool Field Trip

Cold Spring Harbor State Park ; Homeschool Field Trip  It’s been so long since I’ve home schooled, I’m starting to wonder if I will be able to go to real school. But sometimes, I have moments when I miss my friends. And even tho I haven’t seen any middle school teachers yet, I am sure I will like them. But for now, I am planning to enjoy my home school experience as much as I can.  So on one sunny day of April, we decided to go on another home school field trip. This time to cold spring harbor state park. It took 30 minutes drive to get there, but I entertained myself by looking at the trees and clouds passing by. When we arrived, my surroundings was very surprising. The park looked more like a rocky hill, with a harbor in front of it. As I got out of the car, I was able to smell the spring breeze thru my mask.  According to my parents, I had been to Cold Spring Harbor State Park when I was a baby. I’ve seen a few picture of myself holding my grandmother’s hand as s...

Tobay Beach; Robert Moses State Park; Fire Island; MylkTV

Tobay Beach; Robert Moses State Park; Fire Island; MylkTV Tobay Beach:  I few days after December 2020 started, we decided to go to Tobay Beach. Located in Town of Oyster Bay, Tobay Beach is well... a small beach that looks like a bay. When we arrived, I was quite surprised on how small and empty the beach was. It was as if the beach had closed. But the experience was quite exciting, especially when I found out that there was a playground. It was completely isolated but very big with many slides and obstacles to parkour on. After a few minutes of exploring, we headed our way to the beach (bay). We passed a closed refreshment bar and put foot on sand. The sand was extremely stiff (which my dad liked because it didn’t make much mess) and was full with bird waste. I tried my best not to step on anything with my favorite sneakers as we walked toward the water. Wind started to push me sideways as I stood besides the shallow bay. The water looked a bit dirty, but gleamed as the sun...

Celebrating Christmas 2020; The star ; New York City ; Rockefeller Center

Celebrating  Christmas 2020; The star ; New York City  Its beens so long since I’ve celebrated Christmas in America. After 3 years of going to Korea for the holidays, we were finally able to stay home for Christmas. And I’ve gotta admit, I never felt so excited.  Right before the week of Christmas started, I tried to finish all my home school work (which sadly turned out to be a fail). I rushed thru the last page of “180 days of science for sixth grade” and slammed the workbook shut. Excited and joy tendered around me.  19th Saturday: Watching the star  On Saturday, my parents and I went to a drive in movie theater our local community has hosting. We watched a Christianity related movie called the star. The air felt crispy when the windows opened so that we can receive our food and goodies. Resting my head on a cup holder, I stuffed myself with popcorn (which my mom wasn’t too happy about) and laughed at a donkey who declared freedom and a bird who was ama...

Planting Fields Arboretum ; Home School Field Trip

Planting Fields Arboretum ; Home School Field Trip During the second month of homeschool, I was busy studying for a Korea Translation Competition and my first midterm test. I had mixed feelings, but I was mostly tired and fed up. I had never solved that many math problems back in elementary, but now the worked tripled. I always woke up at 8:30 so I went to sleep really late. Ya, my routines were a disaster. But there were days when I has time to relax and settle down a bit. On November 10th, we happily celebrated my dad’s birthday. After we had brunch, my mom planned on going to see the autumn trees. I was excited, but slightly worried because I had a lot of work to do. But she said that its fine if I don’t finish it all that day. So I took my bag and mask and went to the car. We arrived at the Planting Fields Arboretum after a few minutes of driving. When I got out, I was in shock. I had a feeling that I’ve never felt before. The feeling of freedom. It seemed weird to feel free becaus...

Jones Beach; Homeschool field trip

Jones Beach; Homeschool field trip  During the sixth week of homeschool, we decided to go on our second field trip to Jones Beach. And of course, we had to wear a mask. I wasn’t really into that idea at first. “It’s outside anyways” I reminded my mom. “Yes I know,” she replied. “But you know, just in case. And also it will block the wind and sand from going on your face.” I shoved myself into the car, still unsatisfied but obeyed the commands to I was given. When we arrived, I felt the salty air, even though I had my mask on. Then I heard my mom gasp as she pointed at the beach. It was completely isolated. There was not even a single person enjoying the ocean. We only saw a few elderly eating at a boardwalk.   “Should we go back home?” she asked in a worried and   serious tone. “No” I insisted. “We’re already here and I don’t see why it will be so dangerous.” I added. With a bit a faith, she followed as I marched through the dusty sand. It felt real     go...

Old Westbury Gardens; Homeschool field trip

Image
Old Westbury Gardens; Homeschool field trip Looking out the window, all I saw was trees, trees, and more trees. Then I started to see parts of houses, peeking out between the green blur. Soon, I saw a tall black gate, with gold designs on the side. We finally arrived at Old Westbury Gardens. This year, my parents decided to homeschool me. During the second week of home school, we went on a small “adventure” to Old Westbury Gardens. It didn’t take much long to drive there, and since we had a library card, the tickets were free. Long slim trees and the sights of fancy mansions of Old Westbury, was breathtaking to see. When we arrived, the roads leading to the parking area seemed longer than the actual parking lot. We had an enjoyable time there as we longed to go inside the mansion (sadly, it was under construction). The day was cool and sunny. And due to Covid-19, not a lot of people were there, so it was a perfect day to take pictures. What is Old Westbury?: Old Westbu...
