 Celebrating  Christmas 2020; The star ; New York City  Its beens so long since I’ve celebrated Christmas in America. After 3 years of going to Korea for the holidays, we were finally able to stay home for Christmas. And I’ve gotta admit, I never felt so excited.  Right before the week of Christmas started, I tried to finish all my home school work (which sadly turned out to be a fail). I rushed thru the last page of “180 days of science for sixth grade” and slammed the workbook shut. Planting Fields Arboretum ; Home School Field Trip During the second month of homeschool, I was busy studying for a Korea Translation Competition and my first midterm test. I had mixed feelings, but I was mostly tired and fed up. I had never solved that many math problems back in elementary, but now the worked tripled. I always woke up at 8:30 so I went to sleep really late. Ya, my routines were a disaster. But there were days when I has time to relax and settle down a bit. On November 10th, we happily celebrated my dad’s birthday. After we had brunch, my mom planned on going to see the autumn trees. I was excited, but slightly worried because I had a lot of work to do.  Microscope ; Fifth grade science During the 7th week of homeschool, the days were rainy and dark. I looked out the window as I tapped on the desk with my pencil. It gave me a memory of when I was in 5th grade. It was a rainy day when my science class was learning about microscopes. “Remember, scientists use these special... bla bla bla” is what I listened to. I didn’t pay attention at all. But now, I missed learning at school and I wish I was more focused on doing my work. Homeschool however, is still really fun if you make your own rules and lessons.  As I said, when I was in fifth grade, we learned about parts of the microscope during science class.   The Neolithic Era and civilization ; 6th grade history ; Home school     Before I get into the facts,    I need to infer something I never thought I would admit. Keeping a blog is VERY useful with all capital that is. A blog can help u look back of what you did in the past days, weeks or years. The Neolithic Era started at 8000 BCE and ended at 4000 BCE. The Great Migration was when many humans moved from Africa to different parts of the world.  Jones Beach; Homeschool field trip  During the sixth week of homeschool, we decided to go on our second field trip to Jones Beach. And of course, we had to wear a mask. I wasn’t really into that idea at first. “It’s outside anyways” I reminded my mom. “Yes I know,” she replied. “But you know, just in case. And also it will block the wind and sand from going on your face.” I shoved myself into the car, still unsatisfied but obeyed the commands to I was given. When we arrived, I felt the salty air, even though I had my mask on. Then I heard my mom gasp as she pointed at the beach. It was completely isolated. There was not even a single person enjoying the ocean.  Digestive system; Sixth grade science Did you know that the digestive progress doesn’t start in the stomach? Or did you know your body uses two types of digestions? During the 5th week of home school, I’ve been learning about the digestive system, and I’ve been longing to share these wacky and informative facts. I’ve gotten this information from 180 days of science of sixth grade and everything you need to know to ace science.  What is a digestive system?:  The digestive system takes and breaks down food, collects nutrients that was in the food and expels the leftover out of the body. The digestive system starts from the mouth and ends at the large intestine. Our body uses two types of digestion. The first is mechanical and the second is chemical digestion. Mechanical digestion is when your body physically breaks down food (like what the stomach does for example). Plant and Animal cells; Grade 6 science review  During the third week of homeschool, I learned many fascinating facts with the help with science. I'm using two books for science this year. "Everything you need to know to ace science in one big fat notebook" and "180 days of science for sixth grade". I highly recommend these book/workbook if you are interested in doing more ahead learning. I've actually learned cells in fifth grade, but I understood it better this year while getting homeschooled.  This week, the books focused on animal cells and plant cells.   Old Westbury Gardens; Homeschool field trip Looking out the window, all I saw was trees, trees, and more trees. Then I started to see parts of houses, peeking out between the green blur. Soon, I saw a tall black gate, with gold designs on the side. We finally arrived at Old Westbury Gardens. This year, my parents decided to homeschool me. During the second week of home school, we went on a small “adventure” to Old Westbury Gardens. It didn’t take much long to drive there, and since we had a library card, the tickets were free. Long slim trees and the sights of fancy mansions of Old Westbury, was breathtaking to see. When we arrived, the roads leading to the parking area seemed longer than the actual parking lot.   The Paleolithic Era (Old stone age); Human Evolution; Hominids; World History The Paleolithic Era (Or the Old stone age) started about 6-7 million years ago. During this time, the first humans called hominids started to develop tools by chipping pebbles, stones, bones, wood, and lots more.   The first Hominids lived in Africa long time ago, changing over time. Here is a list of some well-known types of hominids. Australopithecus: The first hominids were called Australopithecus, meaning “southern ape” and was around 4.4 million years ago. Australopithecus, were nomads, meaning that they traveled frequently to find food without a permanent home. One famous Australopithecus named Lucy; taught many scientist facts they weren’t accurate about.   For example, many archeologists believed that hominids used tools when hominids walked upright.   Simple tips: How to Survive during Quarantine We never know when another outbreak would happen during the year. So, its good to always be prepared for a future lock-down. Here is some list of tips to help survive without feeling any depression. What you can/should do: ·      Exercise/stretch daily (Any kind of simple exercise or stretches can help your physical and mental health.) ·      Get a lot of sunlight (It helps take in vitamin D, which will make you feel brighter and stronger.   How to build a Lego mansion;  Kim's family house tour  This is a small tour of the the Kim's family's house. The house is made up of three different Lego sets (Stephanie's house, Livi the pop-star house and the Beach house) and has six levels. The house started off small, but slowly got extended as more Lego sets came.
